Keeper League help!?

I am trying to start a competitive keeper league for the upcoming NBA season. There are discrepencies between players. I want a draft. He wants an auction style format. I just want to know what anyone elses keeper league rules are. If you could help me by just saying how you have your keeper league and the rules and what not that would be most helpful. Thanks.

It all depends on preference.

My keeper league I've been in for 7 years has the following rules.

Each team is allowed to keep ONE player. If you choose not to keep a player. We have what is called a FILLER round. Based on Records from the previous year the worst team starts picking and then on your way up to the Champion. If you keep a player, you don't get pick in the filler round. After the filler round is over, you begin the first round which again starts with last years worst team and then snakes around untill you end. Make sure your draft ends with the Worst team getting the last pick of the last round.

in the NBA where talent is more cut and dry i prefer the auction format where everyone can go into the draft / auction w/ an opportunity to get their favorite players. The NBA more then baseball and football and even hockey is an individual sport and people tend to go crazy for their favorite players (LeBron, Tim Duncan, etc). and sometimes this is to your advantage because you can get up and comers and players not talked about alot for a cheaper price and build a much better team.

The best of the best!..Who would win?

If we make an NBA playoff tree and choose the best teams from different generations to see who would come out on top to represent their conference and of course, win the NBA Title, who would win...

Eastern Conference:

1.Celtics- any team they had from the their championship year's during the 80's

2.Bulls-their 96-97 season where they had the best record with Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Steve Kerr and so on

3.Sixers-their 82-83 season that won the title with the roster of Moses Malone, Julius Erving, Maurice Cheeks

4.Pistons-from their 88-89 roster with Issiah Tomas

5.New York-from their championship team with Walt Frazier, Willis Reed and Debusschere back in the 70's.

6.Milwaukee-with their title roster team with Oscar Robertson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Bob Dandridge

7. Miami-Their team with Shaq, Wade, Walker, Payton, Mourning

8.Orlando-their Finals team with Shaq and Penny Hardaway in the mid 90's

who would represent the East and why

It's always fun to indulge in this kind of fantasy exercise. If a lot of people answer the question, you will probably get a large variety of answers. People are going to have different opinions on this, and there is no way to win an argument like this.

Having said that, I hope Bill Russell does not see your question. He might look at your list, smile, shake his head and think, "Well that guy reads current events, but he doesn't know his history." You can't have a list like this without the 60s Celtics. They were a dynasty.

The 66-67 76ers were also one of the all-time best. When asked about that team, Bill Russell said, "They just kicked our butt that year."

But I can't resist playing along, because I love this stuff. In the East, my favorite would have to be the 82-83 76ers. My God, they were a dangerous team that just destroyed everyone who got in their path in the playoffs. They went up against the world champion Lakers, with Kareem, Magic %26amp; co., and just destroyed them in four straight. Nobody could believe it. Dr. J, Moses Malone, Mo Cheeks, Andrew Toney, Ivaroni and a good bench, featuring one of the best sixth men of all time, Bobby Jones, had an incredible 12-1 record in the playoffs. They were devastating.

In the West, I would have to pick the great Laker teams from the 80s (possibly the 84-85 team as the top pick) with Magic, Kareem, Worthy, Byron Scott, Rambis, and Michael Cooper and the rest of the bench rounding out a dynamic force that just seemed to hit their opponents with so many weapons from all angles.

Put those two teams together and who wins? I'd have to go with a 76ers team that accomplished such a rare feat of burying an NBA champion in four straight games.

The 85-86 Celtics were the greatest team of all time. They would have run the 96 Bulls off the court !

They were way too strong upfront with Bird, McHale, %26amp; Parish, plus Bill Walton and all star Scotty Wedman coming off the bench.

You're forgetting the 1967 Philly 76ers , with Wilt, Greer, Cunningham , and also the 72 Lakers , with Wilt, West, Goodrich.

Any one of these teams would have crushed the 90's Bulls.
The Bulls. Look at their line up!
80s Celtics or 90s Bulls.... however the 60s Celtics would beat them all.

You left out the 80s Lakers, they were pretty impressive too.
East:

the 90s Bulls. Jordan-era Bulls would crush any great teams including the '86 Celtics. Their offense and defense were...incredible!

West:

Magic's Lakers.

Lakers vs. Bulls...uhm pretty much even but as much as i love the lakers, i think the Bulls were better.
the Bulls

Who'll be this year's "defensive player of the year" ?

nba's "defensive player of the year" for 06-07 season

Who'll be this year's "defensive player of the year" ?tv on pc

There are only a few players that even have a shot at this award. Duncan, Ben Wallace( he always has a shot), and Marcus Camby. I think it would be a shame if Camby does not get it this year. He has been relativly healthy( healthier than year) and he is 1st in blocks, 4th in boards. Those are awesome stats. Statisitcally, Camby is the best defender in the league, and I believe after watch well over 100 games this season that Camby is the best defensive player of the year.

Who'll be this year's "defensive player of the year" ?golf ,nba teams

tony parker he is doing really good!!
Kobe Bryant..... yeah right.

Dwight Howard.
I vote for Bruce Bowen. All around excellent defender. No one likes going up against him.
I think it will come down to Camby or Duncan. I think there is a sentiment that Camby has always been a great defender, and that this might be his only crack that the award, given how often he is injured.

However, Duncan hasn't won the award, and I think a number of experts are recognizing that Duncan has gone from underappreciated to completely forgotten. As such, a large number will put their vote toward him in the only category he has a shot of winning, sort of as an MVP consolation prize.
Sure it seems like Marcus Camby should be on the top of the list with his league leading blocks (3.2 per game) and his defensive board average (9.3) which is second only to Kevin Garnett's (10.4). However; take into consideration that the Nuggets are permitting 104 points a game, fifth worst in the NBA. How can the best defensive player in the league be on one of the league's worst defensive teams? There is no way!

My vote is for Shane Battier. Battier makes his living as a hustle player on the defensive end, where he defends three positions (shooting guard, power forward, small forward) with a high degree of skill, nets a good number of blocks and steals, dives for loose balls, and frequently draws offensive fouls from his opponent.
Alonzo Mourning.....
Probably Camby or Duncan
Well first of all its going to be from the Spurs! Which is Tony, Tim, Bowen! somebody
I think Tony Parker will win the defensive player of the year award because he has a ton of steals this season.

Why is Lebron Not A Ballhog?

Why is Lebron not a ballhog when he shoots for 8-42 in two games? He went for 2-18 in game 1 then 6-24 in game 2. He also commited 17 turnovers in two games. If he's not a ballhog then why does he awfully shoot like that and turn the ball over? Why don't he just pass the ball or is it because his pride doesn't let him do it. Also are all those stats during the NBA season all for show? Is he just playing for stats? Well to bad, he still sucks. Next MJ my *ss! He's unclutch!

Lebron: "No, I can't pass the ball. If I do that and some other guy scores well, I won't be hero. It's better if we lose than me not putting on a show."

By the way, all those rebounds and assist? He only makes assists after he is already scoring well and those rebounds? He is just grabbing them to better his stats. BALLHOG!

Why is Lebron Not A Ballhog?nba champions

Shooting 2-18 11% FG and 10 Turn-Overs, 6-24 25% FG and 7 Turn-Overs?

THAT'S A BALLHOG!

Why doesn't he pass the ball to Ilgauskas who was shooting better than him?!

Why is Lebron Not A Ballhog?nba spurs ,nba teams

you are an idiot. don't you remember when LeBron passed the ball to Delonte West for that gamewinner? Boston's defense is just too good and it's not made any easier on LeBron when you have the liability known as Ben Wallace on the court.
wtf? "No, I can't pass the ball. If I do that and some other guy scores well, I won't be hero. It's better if we lose than me not putting on a show."

Lebron is know for his passing and being unselfish.. lebron's teammates want him to shoot.. dumb asz.
True that and he cant even shoot a decent jump shot i have no idea why people think hes the best i mean the wizards were right to call him over rated he is over rated and im sure everybody but lebron fans think that
He is a ball hog. Is there even an argument? No player can average thirty and not be a ball hog... especially with that shooting percentage.
Not at all a ball hog!!! Can NoT judge Lebron just for two games....He will come around ...Look out King James will RisE Up!!! ohh chit did you see that.....
BullHog
Queen Lechoke.... The next who?
loser
thank you thats wat i been trying to stay.. his stats are overated

Does the NBA Regular Matter?

With so many teams making the playoffs why bother playing the regular season? Yes I know Golden State knocked off the Mavs last year but did the best teams play in the finals?

Does the NBA Regular Matter?nba all star

I can see your point. It's pretty obvious what teams you'll see in the playoffs (Spurs, Celtics, Suns, Lakers).

Does the NBA Regular Matter?tickets ,nba teams

Money, money and money. You can tell how much the regular season means by the lack of effort most players put out. Watch the last two minutes and save time.
yes
spurs definitely deserved to be there last year. cavs were a fluke. detroit should have been the ones there. but it would be an even worst nba finals with even lower ratings. of course thats what the NBA really care about most, $$$ and ratings.

the regular season matters to an extent, you still need to see who gets in to the playoffs but you dont have to be like dallas and win 67 games only to lose to an 8th seed.

especially in the west where it is so competitive, the regular season does matter because not everyone in the west can get the first 8 seeds.
everyone knows last years final was suppose to be the Phoenix Suns vs the Detroit Pistons. The Suns were robbed by the ref's in the San Antonio series and the Pistons made the mistake of playing to the opponents level and suffered from a bit of bad coaching in a loss to a less talented Cav's team. But to your original question, yes the regular season does matter to a degree. How you play in the regular season determines your fait in the playoffs. Home court, regardless of the Mav's slip up last year, does matter, and striving to have the best record in the confrence garuntees that your first opponent will be the 8th seed which "should" be a gimme series. Usually, one of the top 3 teams in each confrence makes it to the finals. Not to mention, in the regular season is when teams discover their identity, as a good, and not so good team. This years Heat team is a good example of that.
I'll say yes the Season does matter...you need some format to determine seeding which the NBA uses and the regular season is best suited for that format....I personally wouldnt mind reducing the amount of games in the season..(I think 82 is alot)...but that's my personal opinion....

And yes the best team did play in the Finals.....but it helped that both Cleveland and San Antonio had favorable match-ups
noo
yes
It determines who makes the playoffs.
