How do you think this season will turn out? With all the changes going on in the NBA it is crazy. The MAVS thought that bringing Jason Kidd to the team was a good choice, um think again. But the Spurs also have done some crazy moves as well. Ginobili is hot right now with the points. Parker is doing good also, as well as Duncan. But do you think we will actually have a chance for another Championship? I love my Spurs, always have and always will, but they worry me at times.
To all SPURS FANS...and non fans?nba fights
A chance yes!.... a title mmm NO!!
To all SPURS FANS...and non fans?fan gear ,nba teams
As a long-time Dallas fan, I'm almost too depressed to think about the play-offs.
But, if the Mavs don't make it, I will be pulling for the Spurs. Perhaps one more title will give San Antonio full status as a dynasty. Something they have already earned.
While I am a huge Spurs fan, my realistic views of the team anger other Spurs Fans, with them saying Im not a true fan. In my eyes a true fan doesnt just think their team is the best even when they arent. Thats like saying a Grizzlie fan thinks their team is the best, while we are all too aware, they arent.
My problem with The Spurs is, and has been, more so since Robinson retired, that despite them winning last year, that they never really filled the void at Center upon Davids departure. Having first Nazr Mohammed at C, was an experiment, but they didnt allow Nazr to get comfortable for too long with that role and traded him, where he posted respectable numbers, scoring wise and rebounds which The Spurs need to help Duncan in the paint and on the boards. They then shared time with Oberto and Elson, who both cant defend cleanly, consistent enough, and grab Rebounds and score on a daily basis, wihtout fouling so much. Now they rid Elson to bring in Thomas who I like, but in the Mighty West where a center is still a large part of the game, The Spurs fall short, and this is why they will go down early. I been saying for the longest time, that they needed someone like Kaman, who can score and rebound night in night out to help them. Spurs used to have to play double as hard due to their lack of free throws, but were getting rebounds. Now that they are better in that area, they are turning it over too often, not getting enough rebounds( in fact often are out rebounded), and missing the input of a steady Center. They worry me as well, especially this season, and I personally feel that until they acquire a true center, they will continue to struggle for most part. Incidentally as far as Manu goes, I personally feel, that he no tonly should finally get the Sixth Man Award, but this years MVP Award as well. If not for his play each night, on all sides of the ball, they wouldnt even be in midst of the playoff hunt/pack. His clutch shooting won many games for them this season, and without those wins, they would surely be the Nuggets and on the outside looking in.
I think their chances of a repeat are excellent. There is not a team in the NBA that can compete in a 7 game series with San Antonio right now.
The Lakers can't do it because Bynum is not 100%. If he was, then they would be a serious threat. Bynum's knee is FAR worse than the Lakers want their fans to believe. He is being rushed back too early in my opinion. Knee injuries like his are career enders, and he has had 2 of them on the same knee in less than 5 years. Gasol cannot guard Duncan by himself, and Bowen can slow down Kobe Bryant enough to wear them down in a 7 game series.
New Orleans and Utah don't have the experience to survive a 7-game series right now, but they will in the next couple of years provided those 2 teams stay together.
Houston can't do it without Yao(as we will find out on ABC this Sunday), Phoenix can't do it with Shaq, and Dallas haven't been able to do it with Kidd.
The only team I can see getting in their way is Detroit. They play a very similar game to the Spurs and have proven before that they can hang in a 7-game series.
The Celtics don't have the bench to last all 7 games in a series.
The Spurs are going to quiet alot of "experts" after this season, and they are going to drive a lot of GM's crazy because they have managed to remain dominant with the same team while they've scrambled and traded around for years. Will they make any new fans? Nope. Will they gain any respect? Nope. They will just keep getting called old and boring and keep winning more rings. These kids will keep calling them dirty and SWEARING that the league gave the Spurs the Championship when they fail to realize that just because a player is popular, it doesn't make him or his team contenders, nor does he deserve to be league MVP.
And you fair weather fans can all go to hell, we don't need ya!
Im not worry about the Spurs except maybe Kobe or Suns with Shaq.. TIMMY 4 da WON
they are one of the championship candidates but the only teams who can defeat them are boston celtics and phoenix suns
This season has been crazy. There have been tons of trades and player movement everywhere. The Spurs are probably my fifth favorite team. I am from the east coast, so I am a Knick's fan. There is no doubt in my mind though that the Spurs can win another championship. All of their players are highly experienced in the playoffs compared to the other teams in the west. The Spurs will most definitely make the NBA championchip again.
I don't think you'll will win this year. Too much competition. If they do win though it'll place Tim Duncan %26amp; the Spurs as accomplishing a great feat. Not saying they haven't accomplished anything. But if they win two years in a row %26amp; add another title. It'll definately add to Duncan %26amp; Popavich's legacy.
I'm the first one to answer this question, I'mSpurs fan. I hope we do it. but i dont care a bit who is having longest streak, i dont care who is number one, i care if we go to the playoff, and control our side, but it will be tough, Spurs and Duncan ready for any time, long as we are doing well, all the people that answering this question if u hate spurs, we will be ur hero, either u like it, or mmm not.
First of all I am a Lakers fan, and I think the acquisition of Paul Gasol is the right move for Lakers.. watch out Spurs the Combination of Gasol %26amp; Bynum can be a threat to your Tim Duncan.. But you have to remember one think, If it ain't broke don't fix it.. If you don't believe this philosphy just take a look at Mavs and Suns..
I don't think they'll win this year. They are the oldest team in the league which is good when it comes to poise and experience but bad when it comes to physical grinding play for long stretches of time. Just look at them throughout the year, I think they might be the team with the most injuries (Duncan, Parker, Ginobili, etc). Also, Horry and Finley haven't been big at all. I know that what matters is what they do in the playoffs but if they can't do it during the regular season what makes you think they'll do it in the playoffs? I think that the strength in the West will beat them down badly. They'll probably have to run a lot against GS or play hard beat up ball against the Mavs. They're best shot is if they get the Nuggets in round one b/c that team sucks and can only shot, no defense and no drag out offense. But the second round will still present the Hornets or Lakers and then the other one and then the Celts or Pistons. I just don't see them beating so many good teams that much and not getting completely worn down or injured for the next.
The Spurs have an excellent shot at repeating this season. Everyone must remember that the regular season means nothing at the end of the day. All anyone remembers is what you did in the playoffs.
I recall that everyone said that the Spurs were too old last season and they would never win another title, but they did and then the Phoenix fans said they cheated, whatever, they can't get over it.
Manu, Tim, and Tony are getting more rest than many of the other big time players this late in the season and I don't think Pop really cares about the playoff seed, he feels they can win even without homecourt. Ime Udoka is playing very well and has dialed up his defensive game as has Jaque Vaughn. Whatever they give us on offense is gravy, just like Bruce Bowen. Kurt Thomas is fititng in nicely and will be a beast on the boards during the playoffs. Don't give up on Finley and Horry, they seem to find another gear in the playoffs and we just need them to hit big shots. Hopefully Barry will be healthy enough to come back, he is clutch and is a great defender.
As for all the other teams: The Mavs most likely won't make it.
The Nuggets only play like 12 minutes of defense every night so we all know that won't get it done.
The Warriors play well against any team that doesn't have a good low post player, the Spurs have several and Tim is dominate in the low post. Fab and Kurt can hold their own in the low post as well.
The Rockets, well T-Mac can't hold the team up forever and I think we say goodbye to them in round 1 once again.
The Hornets have zero playoff experience which might get you through round 1, but as the pressure mounts it get harder. Can CP3 and Co. step up. Who knows!
The Lakers (yes, I have seen a ton of Lakers games this season) have a huge defensive weakness in Farmar and Fisher, they get beat by all the speedy guards and will put too much pressure on Gasol and Bynum. They have the talent to win, but besides Kobe and DFish they also have no experience.
The Suns still don't play enough guys to get it done. A 7 man rotation kills you in the playoffs. Shaq has improved thier interior defense, but Amare's number aren't really that different he just has more freedom to roam. Can both big men stay out of foul trouble and can the team as a whole control their emotions?
The Jazz also have the talent to win, but seem to fold on the big stage. They are tough at home, but once you dial up the defense they struggle to find their rhythm.
