Bryant forced to play in All-Star game. Your thoughts?

Let me first clarify that I can't stand Kobe, but with that said I don't believe that he should be forced to play in the All-Star game. The NBA is basically saying that, "If you're healthy enough to play the last game (Feb. 13) for the Lakers before the All-Star Break, you're healthy enough to play in the All-Star Game."

The All-Star game is an exhibition game. It doesn't carry the same weight that a regular season game does, especially in the stacked West where teams are all jocking for playoff position.

But with that said, it is an NBA rule that's been in effect for a while. The Lakers should have been smart about it and sat Rapist for that last game before the Break. I'm it was against the T-Wolves. I'm sure they could have managed without him.

It doesn't matter, it's the NBA who is losing out. He will probably play for a few seconds and sit. They could easily give Deron Williams that spot. I'd rather watch him anyways. Frankly the NBA and their rules have gotten ridiculous. The NBA All-Star game is not even relevant anymore.

I think Kobe has no choice because if he plays the game before and after the all-star game than the league mandates that he has to play. The idea of the rule is to prevent players from disappointing the fans by faking or claiming an injury to rest or go on family vacations.

In this case i think the NBA should be able to recognize the legitimacy of the injury.

Kobe will play but probably very limited. Byron Scott has said that he will do what Kobe asks in terms of how much to play him-- i think he'll be out there long enough to entertain the fans and that's it.

Well taking Kobe completely out of the picture and just focusing on the rule, and looking at other league's all-star games/events/etc. I mean the NFL pro-bowl is a wash cause you don't have to show up. Does the NHL even have an all-star game? (I'm kidding) Baseball is just now getting back its all-star audience now that they have put incentives back into the winning conference so now players show up. Altho I think more people just watch the Home run derby.

I like the rule. It gives back to the fans who are the reason there is a league in the first place. If your healthy enough to play for your organization, then your healthy enough to play for the people keeping your organization in the green.

To those commenting on the fact that he could get hurt please. He could re-injure his pinky in the shower too. Noone gets hurt in all-star games even when they do something stupid. Truth be told he could not play he just has to sit out the game afterwards. (Oh wait its against the SUNS)
well you can't think of an allstar organization without a guy who's scoring leader these previous 2 seasons and this year's MVP candidate.I think that David Stern thinks the same way

Yes, the NBA could've given up his spot to the more deserving guards that got screw out of the all star game (Baron Davis %26amp; Deron Williams). Instead, they give David West a spot.

David Stern is a *****, risking someone else so some exhibition game will get slightly better ratings.
